EXPLORATION OF TEXTURES ON CERAMICS WITH SMOCKING PATTERNS AS INSPIRATION FOR ROOM ORNAMENTS

The texture is a surface characteristic on every object whose existence can be felt by the sense of sight and human touch. The texture is generally divided into two, namely visual texture and tactile texture. The tactile texture is divided again into default texture or artificial texture. Artificial...

Artificial textures can result from the repetition of shapes on the surface of objects, the example is smocking patterns. Smocking is a fabric surface technique. Smocking patterns can only be produced through stitches with special patterns. American smocking is one type of smock whose dimensions of depth, density, and arrangement of the modules cause a stable texture pattern. The unique characteristics of smocking patterns make smocking patterns inspire texture exploration in ceramics for room ornaments. The resulting ceramic product is in the form of tiles whose process is using press mold techniques. text
