The potential of Rare Earth Elements (REE) in geothermal fields worldwide has been researched recently. The previous researches in Wayang Windu geothermal field include samples taken from fresh lava basement and springs. This research focus on 41 altered soil samples to initiate the analysis of rare earth surface occurrence by using analytical method of Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS); 25 of grab samples and 16 of hand augers at 1-3 depth. The preparations of ICP-MS such as: solving agents used are HF and HNO3 mixing, filtering, and diluting by ultra pure water. Rare earth element anomaly is distributed towards northeastern and southeastern area influenced by high grade samples coded K29 and K22 respectively, where lineaments, craters and hot springs manisfestations occur. text
