Description
Summary:Sumatra Island has been revealed as a source of gold called Golden Island because of the importance of gold deposits.Way Linggo is located in the southern part of Sumatra in Indonesia. Way Linggo underground mine has been suspended and further research may help to recover remaining ore left behind underground mining so this research may help for further exploration. Several types of epithermal gold deposit are recognized in Sumatra. Low sulfidation is one of these types which include our study area. Petrography, ore microscopy, XRF and XRD analysis were used combined with the previous research to understand the mineralization in Way Linggo area. The majority of veins show crustiform-colloform textures. XRD and ore microscopy indicates pyrite, chacopyrite, sphalerite associated with gangue mineral such as quartz, chlorite and clay minerals. Fluid inclusion analysis indicate 180 to 250°C and salinity range from 1.2 to 1.7 wt% NaCl. However, the colloform textures are present in the study area and boiling evidence, this stage is might not sufficient yet to precipitate a significant amount of gold. These textural and alteration analysis indicates that Way Linggo is a typical low sulfidation epithermal system.
