The presence of free radicals can cause skin damage such as rough skin, stimulation of sebum release, pigmentation and wrinkles on the skin. This research was aimed to produce oil-in-water cream (W/O) methanol extract of avocado peel waste as waste utilization and prevent skin damage from free radicals. Avocado peel waste were obtained from juice sellers on Jalan Pajajaran, Bandung. The avocado peel was divided into two, and macerated using methanol at a ratio of simplicia and methanol (1:5), the extraction result two extract (L1 and L2 extract). IC50 value of reducing 2,2-diphenyl-1- picrihydralzil (DPPH) of L1 extract was 0.28 ± 0.03 ?g/mL, and L2 extract was 0.82±0.05 ?g/mL. L1 extract was used as raw material. Optimization of the formula was performed using avocado peel waste extract, vaseline album, paraffin liquid, cetomacrogol 1000, cetostearyl alcohol, vitamin E, methyl propyl paraben, propylene glycol and distilled water. Evaluation of the cream included organoleptic, microscopic evaluation, stability test at room temperature, at accelerated temperature, freeze thaw stability test, antioxidant activity assay and acute dermal assay. The best cream formula of this current study contained 2% methanolic extract of avocado peel waste, vaseline album 5%, paraffin liquid 20%, cetomacrogol 1000 6%, cetostearyl alcohol 9%, vitamin E 0.05%, methyl paraben 0.18%, propyl paraben 0.02%, propylene glycol 10% and distilled water 47.75%. The cream color was brownish green and has a distinctive odor. The preparation was stable at room temperature, 40°C, and freeze thaw. The antioxidant activity of methanolic extract avocado peel waste cream was 1.47 ± 0.02 ?g / mL. The cream formula did not irritant to the skin. Because there was a difference of IC50 reducing DPPH value between two avocado peel waste extract that macerated separately, an evaluation process was carried out to determine the factors that affecting antioxidant activity. It was found that drying, milling and maceration process affecting the antioxidant activity of avocado peel extract. text
