INSTITUT TEKNOLOGI BANDUNG https://digilib.itb.ac.id/gdl/view/44155 Cases faced by PT XXX as a buyer in the distribution of activity 1 by the distribution channel of suppliers; distibutor-PT XXX; PT XXX-users. PT XXX warehouse as a transit warehouse. The distribution of activity 1 raises the inventory costs of PT XXX and users, so it is necessary to save inventory costs. By making potential savings the supply chain of activity 1 distribution is optimal. To support the vision and mission of PT XXX, a strategy is needed to overcome these problems. One way is to use the concept of Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI). This research study develops multi-product supplier, distributor and user models to support total costs. Model development is carried out on 4 models. Model 1 is a supplier-distributor-user who does not establish traditional cooperation / communication. Model 2 is the suppliers that build VMI cooperation while the traditional interaction users. Model 3 is a traditional temporary supplier-distributor-user establishing a VMI cooperation relationship. Model 4 is a supplier-distributor-user collaborating with VMI. VMI collaboration with suppliers and distributors uses the reference model Yao et al. (2007), while distributors and users use the Mateen and Chatterjee (2015) models. The results obtained in this study are collaborating with VMI on Model 4 which is done on the total costs required by suppliers, distributors, and users. The holding company gets the biggest potential savings obtained by establishing VMI cooperation with distributors. text
