Summary: | There are many researches about housing preferences in the literature, because
they give significant information for housing planning and development. Individual
has different housing preferences; many factors affect that diversity such as social
economic, age, family, etc. Indonesia, with its many diversity, only have a few
researches about housing preferences particularly among millenials. The
millenials entering the housing market have a tendency to affect the greater market
as a whole. This research is a pioneer study to find out millenials’ housing
preferences in Indonesia. This research use crosstabs and conjoint analysis
method. Data collection is done with Google Form and it took three weeks with 189
respondents. The collection method is homogenous purposive sampling to hinder
the mismatched age of the respondent.
The result shows that the millenials have preferences to buy property. Even though
there are still some millenials who still can not afford their own house, they still
live with their family or rent somewhere. Moreover, some respondents who already
got married and have family, they still not having their own house. The result also
shown that the millenials want to spend 300 million Rupiahs for the down payment
and 3 million Rupiahs mortgages per month for 15 years. Attribute preferences of
the house type is cluster concept with big family room and small bedroom which
near work place. Millenials’ housing preference for buying or renting place to live
is different. They prefer concept over location when they want to buy place to live
while they prefer location over concept when they want to rent places. |
