Description
Summary:People living in DKI Jakarta are usually prone to stress due to their compact daily routine, especially those who work in the business district area. Public space such as riverfront area at the center of the city could be designed to positively influence the society. Mixed-use design in the riverfront area could potentially increase people’s quality of life and it is also beneficial as a tourist attraction. However, the design should be adjusted according to the river’s characteristic. This project is located in Kali Krukut, which also contributes to cause flood in Jakarta. Therefore, the government is currently planning to make Kali Krukut as a model of river naturalization program. This program will eradicate the border between river and public space. When flood occurs, the open space may act as the flood plain. Meanwhile, the open space can be publicly used in dry season. This thesis aims to create a building which provide openspaces that people in the community could use to escape from their daily routine, become a tourist attraction in the city, and also contributes as a flood mitigation in the urban area.
