Summary: | Flood were relatively high occured in 2014, 2016 and 2017 in Pompong watershed, Bangka Regency, Bangka Belitung Islands Province, which caused the damage of road infrastructure, bridges and drowned residential settlements. Illegal mining (unconventional mining) and large-scale mining activities carried out by PT. Timah leaves huge mining hole that turns into water reservoirs (kolong) and leaves high sediment causing siltation in watersheds and river mouths that when the rainy season comes, overflowing water flows to lower areas until floods occur in it. To be able to cope with flooding in the Pompong watershed, we need a control effort that is expected to reduce the inundation area. The purpose of this study was to examine the effectiveness of kolong usage as flood control in the study area, the Pompong watershed. The method used is the hydrological modeling using HEC-HMS 4.2 software, and 2D hydraulics modeling using the HEC-RAS 5.0.7 software. Utilization of the kolong under the concept of embankment construction (peak elevation +5.00 m) which makes it a detention pond (dry pond) from the results of 2D modeling by modifying the DEMNAS map on the HEC-RAS can be applied very effectively reducing flooding that occurs in the Sinar Jaya environment. |
