Due to the impact of two ecosystems, the terrestrial ecosystem, and the marine ecosystem, the coastal region is a complicated, vibrant, and distinctive environment. Thus, professional and sustainable management of coastal regions is a requirement to attain ideal economic development. Indonesia's rural coastal regions face numerous problems, from poverty to low competitiveness. Faced with the demand for increasing levels of community resilience to potential financial risks in the future, the role of government is gradually becoming vital. For this reason, an analysis was carried out in this study to propose strategy that can improve the economic resilience of rural coastal communities towards economic shocks combined with spatial analysis. The response could assist communities as well as local government in knowing how to create local economies better able to withstand the next shock. Four elements and 18 indicators were used to calculate the composite index with a research area of eleven coastal sub-districts in North Gorontalo Regency. The findings of this research show that although all sub-districts located in coastal regions, communities in eleven sub-districts showedii distinct perceptions of economic capacity that could be a support to resist financial shocks, and each sub-district had strengths and weaknesses in each element. text
