Presl. This study was done in order to formulate nanoemulsion of cinnamon oil as anti acne dosage form. Cinnamon oil nanoemulsion formula was prepared by using surfactant (Poloxamer 407), cosurfactant (glycerine, ethanol, propyleneglycol, and PEG 400) in various ratios, cinnamon oil, and water. The nanoemulsion was evaluated for its general appearance, density, pH, globule size, and physical stability. The activity of nanoemulsion formula against Propionibacterium acnes was carried out by using agar disc diffusion method. Cinnamon oil nanoemulsion was successfully constructed by using Poloxamer 407 as surfactant, PEG 400 as cosufactant, cinnamon bark oil, and distilled water. The nanoemulsion had a clear and yellow colored appearance with cinnamon scent. The density of nanoemulsion was 1.23 g/mL, pH of 5.65 ± 0.02, and the globule size was 696.48 ± 6.88 nm. There were the decreasing of globule size observed during the accelerated, freeze-thaw, and room temperature stability test. Whereas there was no phase separation or precipitation occurred during centrifugation test. The nanoemulsion was proved effective against P. acnes. Inhibition diameter of nanoemulsion was 15.02 ± 0.02 mm, bigger than the inhibition diameter found from 6% cinnamon oil in ethanol that of 10.88 ± 1.12 mm. text
