Development of new antibacterial source from nature was done to overcome that problem. The aims of this research were to find antimicrobial source from endophytic fungi-marine alga and determine antimicrobial activity through determination of minimum Inhibitory concentration (MIC), minimum bactericidal concentration (MBC), and minimum fungicidal concentration (MFC). Isolation of endophytic fungi was conducted on several types of algae samples from marine of Samalona Island. Each the pure fungi was fermented using shaker for 21 days and then result of fermentation was filtrated. The culture media was extracted by liquid-liquid extraction and the mycelium part was macerated for 24 hours with ethyl acetate solvent. Antimicrobial activity was tested on dried extract by agar diffusion method using paper disk. Extract that had antimicrobial activity was determined their MIC, MBC, and MFC against Escherichia coli ATCC 8739, Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 6538, and Candida albicans ATCC 10231 using microdilution method. On this research obtained 10 kinds of different fungi that were coded FSMLN 1 until FSMLN 10. The biggest of antibacterial activity was shown by mycelial extract of FSMLN 1 against S. aureus that had MIC 32 µg/mL and MBC 256 µg/mL. The biggest of antifungal activity was shown by mycelial extract of FSMLN 1 against C. albicans that had MIC 32 µg/mL and MFC 128 µg/mL. This results showed that a mycelium extract of FSMLN 1 have the potential to be developed as a source of antimicrobial agent. text
