Summary: | Technological developments in the production and distribution of drugs lead to increased abuse of
drugs effects. One of the most frequently abused drugs is psychoactive drugs. Psychoactive compounds
are compounds that act on the central nervous system that can change awareness, mood and mind.
The psychoactive effects on the central nervous system are generally expected by the user either to
gain pleasure or to avoid pain. Any changes in brain function caused by the use of these psychoactive
compounds can cause dependence. One of the drugs that can be abused is papaverine HCl included in
the opium group. With this increasing abuse, a test method is needed to detect such abuse in a simple
and accurate way. The objective of this study was to develop a method of papaverine HCl quantitative
analysis in hair samples using FTIR. The FTIR method was validated and the hair samples were simulated
by immersing the hair in papaverine HCl solution then were measured by FTIR. The result of the method
validation shows that the validation parameters has been fulfilled, they are the linearity gives the
correlation coefficient ?r???????????with Vxo ????????- LOD ????????w?w and LOQ ????????w?w-
percent recovery on the accuracy test is in the range 97-????and SBR in the precision test ?????????In
test of hair samples that have been immersed in a solution of papaverin HCl with a concentration of 25
mg/ mL obtained concentration of papaverin HCl is 0.1594 ± 0,0011% after immersing for 192 hours.
