Some studies also showed that loofah fruit had potential as a hepatoprotector. This study aims to confirm the effects of loofah fruit as a hepatoprotector and to determine which parts of the fruit (peels, flesh, and seeds) has the greatest potential as a hepatoprotector. In addition, this study also determines the effects of preventive and curative in every part of loofah fruit. Loofah fruit was dried and the dose of each part was based on the yield of dry crude drug. Peels, flesh and seeds loofah decoction were given for 7 days in the preventive group and 22 days in the curative group. The acute CCl4 50% in olive oil was administered on the 8th day immediately after administration of sample. Parameters were included determination of ALT, AST, total bilirubin and ALP activities. Based on statistical test of One Way Anova (p <0.05), generally, loofah seeds 232 mg/kg bw and loofah flesh 116 mg /kg bw showed significant different compared to control group than loofah peel 618 mg/kg bw. Based on slope of trendline parameter activity, the therapeutic effect of loofah flesh and seeds were preventive meanwhile the loofah peel was preventive-curative. Seed decoction 232 mg/kg bw and flesh decoction 116 mg/kg bw of loofah had better hepatoprotector activity than peel decoction 618 mg /kg bw on liver damage-induced single acute CCl4. text
