Summary: | Building is considered as the most energy-consuming sector, gaining over
30% shares among the others globally as well as a prominent carbon dioxide
(CO2) emitters. With the increasing of urbanization phenomena, it is inevitable
that the future trend will lead to denser housing. Consequently, electricity
demand raise will follow. Green roof stands as the one of promising solution to
suppress this problem.
A set of experimental activity was designed to measure thermal
performance of a building installed with green roof in Bandung. It represents
typical days during dry and rainy season. Moreover, a novel energy building
simulation software has been used to model actual green roof parameters. Those
will act as a baseline to conduct a real case building simulation during the same
period.
Experimental data shows that the presence of green roof may increase
building temperature stability. It cools building while ambient gets hot and vice
versa. The real case building model has also been conducted. Revealing that by
using additional green roof construction may reduce facility cooling load by
20.5% in dry season and 12.7% in rainy season. |
