Summary: | Production system has a vital role in manufacturing industry to ensure that the
process proceeds optimally. A good production system will guarantee each
production element to work well on their specific working environment. There is
a production system that adapt to various type of product and demand. That
system is called Flexible Manufacturing System (FMS).
FMS is a production system which has three production element on it:
computerized control system, work station, and automated material handling that
are usually using Automated Storage and Retrieval System (AS/RS). AS/RS has
responsibility to ensure all work stations need of material can come on their due
time. There will be a deadlock on AS/RS operation, it is case when job on system
comes to wait for another one on an uncertainty. Thus, it needs an approachment
method to avoid deadlock.
In this research, the development of algorithm to coordinating AS/RS is designed
so it can make them avoid deadlock. It will use object-oriented method on the
modeling phase. The output of this research is a Gantt chart that shows AS/RS
routines on each time. |
