Description
Summary:Adsorption refrigeration system which has more energy saving and environmentally friendly will replace the function of vapor compression cooling system in the future. However, further studies is needed to improve the performance of adsorption refrigeration system. From a number of refrigerants used in adsorption refrigeration system, R32 has advantages in terms of safety, relatively lowglobal warming potential, and high cooling capacity. For that reason, a research on adsorption refrigeration system is good to be done. Adsorption cooling system was tested by using working pairs R32 with active carbon and R32 with activated carbon modified by sulfuric acid. Sulfuric acid will affect the surface properties of activated carbon so the adsorption capacity increase. The pair was tested to obtain cycle time, cooling effect, COP and the effect of final desorption temperature variations on the performance of refrigeration system. By using final desorption temperature variations 55oC, 65oC and 75oC, the test results showed that the cooling effect is ranged between 17 kJ–38 kJ, when the cooling cycle is 36, 40 and 50 minutes and COP obtained are 0.15, 0.18 and 0.2. Final desorption temperature variations affect the value of the cooling effect and cycle time, while the activated carbon modification only affects the cooling effect.
