Malassezia is human normal microflora but in excessive growth, it can disrupt scalp. One of substances that is used for treating dandruff is shampoo containing ketoconazole in addition to zinc pyrithione and selenium sulfide. Beside shampoo, there is hair tonic for treating dandruff containing Morus alba extract, fruit extract of Vitex trifolia, Eclipta prostrata extract, leaf extract Moringa oleifera, and leaf extract of Ginkgo biloba yet need scientifically proven. The aim of this study is to evaluate antifungal activity of hair tonic against Malassezia furfur. Fungi which used in this assay were Malassezia furfur ATCC 14521 and isolate. Scalp from volunteers was obtained for isolation. Isolates were inoculated on agar until one colony was obtained. Both fungal isolate and Malassezia furfur ATCC 14521 were identified by microscopic observation and biochemical assays: catalase test, tween assimilation test, and inoculated in media without olive oil. Screening of antifungal activity of hair tonic was done by agar diffusion method. Research showed that hair tonic gave inhibition diameter at concentration 100% v/v (without dilution) and 50% v/v (1:1 dilution) were 22,33 ± 0,03 mm and 16,17 ± 0,07 mm against Malassezia furfur ATCC 14521 respectively. Hair tonic gave inhibition diameter at concentration 100% (without dilution) and 50% concentration (1:1 dilution) were 21,18 ± 0,13 mm and 17,50 ± 0,02 mm against Malassezia furfur isolate. Assay was continued by microdilution method that ?±????±¸ ?ð?ð?????íð­ð??????????®±??? ?ð??????????? ????????????ã??? ?¸ ?ð?ð?????????ãð®ð¸ ? ??????®±??? ?ð?????????????? ?????????ã? ã ð???Malassezia furfur ATCC 14521 dan Malassezia furfur isolate.
