The main function of this reservoir was as a hydroelectric power plant. The activities of industry, agriculture, mining, aquaculture, and tourism around Saguling Reservoir, result in increased pollution in the reservoir, especially by heavy metals. The purpose of this study was to determine the distribution and characteristics of heavy metals in sediment of Saguling Reservoir which consisting of fractions F1 (exchangeable and carbonate fraction), F2 (Fe-Mn oxides fraction), F3 (organic fraction) and F4 (residual fraction). Sampling was conducted at 12 monitoring points based on the location of the monitoring by PT Indonesia Power UP Saguling (2014). Measurement of concentrations of Cd Cr, Cu, and Pb were performed using an Inductively Coupled Plasma Optical Emission Spectrometry (ICP-OES). The results of analysis by ICP-OES is used as a reference to predict the level of metal contamination (Cd, Cr, Cu, and Pb) using Risk Assessment Code (RAC) and SQGs (Sediment Quality Guidelines). The results showed the highest total concentrations of Cd at station 1 A (Citarum Nanjung) was 11.47 mg/kg. The concentration of Cr total was also the highest at station 1 A (151.36 mg/kg), while the highest total concentration of Cu at station 2 (Cihaur Kampung Cipeundey) was 172.92 mg/kg, and the concentration of Pb highest total at station 1 A was 53.33 mg/kg. RAC based on a percentage of the value of F1 (% F1) showed that the risk level category of each metal in each station is different. The Cd classified as medium risk at the station 1A, while the 11 other stations as low risk at the station 1 B, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 A, and 10 B; Cr classified as low risk at the station 1 A, 1 B, 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 10 A and 10 B, while no risk at station 3, 8 and 9; category Cu classified as low risk at all stations; and Pb classified as medium risk at station 8, low risk at station 1 A, 1 B, 3, 4, 5, 7, 9, 10 A and 10 B, and is not at risk at stations 2 and 6. Based on the value SQGs, heavy metals Cd, Cr, and Cu have high toxicity levels at all stations and therefore contributes substantially to the aquatic biota, while the toxicity of Pb is still relatively low at 11 stations and relatively high in station 1 A. text
