Streetscape is the visual representation of street as three-dimensional urban space, defined by building facades, trees, and other physical elements of street. Streetscapes become an immediate source of visual information for user's perceptions on the environment, and imageable streetscapes might represent the broader identity of the city. Analysis with mix method approach, has resulted in findings that Bogor streetscapes character which contributes to the identity of the city represented by the street corridors around the Botanical Gardens, especially Jalan Juanda, Harupat Starling Road and Jalan Pajajaran. The streetscapes character of those corridors serve as cognitive representation of Bogor city's identity as they have imageability and distinctiveness that represent the mental image of Bogor, which composed by the dominant physical elements consist of large and shady trees, historical buildings, commercial-recreational activities, as well as the street ambience that relaxing but distressing at same time. Although Bogor main street corridors do not meet the criteria of a pleasant place for pedestrian activities, but they can still be referred as the great street of Bogor. Street functional assignment policies that tend to be vehicle-oriented do not promote the street sense of place as public space. Therefore, Bogor city identity that represented by the streetscapes character is more of a visual identity, which imageability is greatly influenced by traffic arrangments concentrated around the Botanical Gardens. iv Traffic arrangement can strengthen or weaken people's familiarity on a particular corridor, and influence its contribution to the identity of the city. Accordingly, to maintain the identity of Bogor as a historic botanical city, the existence of the Botanical Gardens and historical elements must be preserved, as well as traffic arrangement that remain focused around the Botanical Garden by controlling the growth of commercial activities along the street corridors. The research will contribute to the understanding on the subject of identity formation through the representation of the streetscapes character, especially in the recent development context of street function and character in Indonesian cities.
