Public market has a vital role in the economic and socio-cultural aspects within the society. This is what the government of Bandung had realized before the idea to rejuvenate the public markets in Bandung came up. The plan was including Pasar Sederhana, Sukajadi, Bandung. This market needs to be redesigned into thematic handicrafts market in order to optimize the role of the market. This market will accommodate the functions of daily commodity market, handicraft market, the office of PD Pasar Bermartabat, supported by a variety of public facilities. There are some major issues that must be resolved in this scheme: the local identity, internal and external circulation, as well as building systems. The design process is using utilitarian and economic approach. While the concept of the design is converged and continuous space, as well as it represents the architecture of Sunda and also the handicrafts of West Java. The design of the market responded to site issues by utilizing the slope of the land to make an impression that every floor is the ground floor for both buyers and sellers. To respond the local identity, the design is inspired by Sundanese traditional building, Leuit, and has applied Sundanese Batik, Cupat Manggu.
