Description
Summary:Indonesia Movieland has a vision to create the “Hollywod of Indonesia” by designing a thematic area based on the image of film industry. There are various film industry facilities in the area including a school for cinematic arts. Higher education were chosen as the project as it can directly affect the development of film industry in Indonesia. Hepofully through this project Indonesia’s film industry could be developed significantly. In the design process, the main design problem was to create a sense of identity within the school complex by creating a unique building image. There are four ways which was selected to solve this problem : 1) An easy wayfinding created by an organized zoning concept, 2) building shape which originated from an audiovisual metaphore, 3) facade design which represents film as a series of moving pictures, and 4) the placement of film exhibition facilites as an informal form of film education towards society. These concepts were realized through two main design approaces, which is function and expression approach.
