Summary:Kareumbi Research Station is a research facility that focuses on research efforts to support timor deer (Cervus timorensis) conservation, one of the wildlife which considered to be endangered in Jawa Barat. Built by Badan Konservasi Sumber Daya Alam (BKSDA) Jawa Barat in Masigit Kareumbi Conservation Area. The site has an area of 40.866 m², exactly located on the main reform area that come under the utilization zone of the conservation area. Building qualities in conservation area are seen from the building relationship with the surrounding nature. The value of research function, education and visits function, along with housing function that dwell in the research station must be added without damaging the harmony of nature. Thus, as part of the permanent development, tropical architecture approach is used on this research station design to respond to the tropical rainforest climate that exists on the site. On Site potential also utilized for applying appropriate technology which suitable for local conditions so this research station can represent the meaning of the conservation itself. To let the design concept aim to that direction, stilt building construction that chosen to reduce site intervention also utilized bamboo, local material which has high aesthetic value, firm, and easy to obtain.
