Description
Summary:The phenomenon of house modification in a housing is a common thing. These modification can be explained by Maslow hierarchy of needs, which explains that human needs will keep going until it reach self-actualization phase. House modification can be one of a way for self-actualization phase, such as changing the house facade. And as the self-actualization goes, it needs other people to appreciates it. Street configuration in a housing determined which house types located, on the main road usually the bigger type of houses meanwhile on the side road the smaller type of houses. Usually theres difference level of change in the house facades on each street segments, these are the reason for the writer to find out if there’s a correlation and influence between street configuration to the level of change in house facade. Space syntax study can predicted human movements on a road segments by its integration level. The higher the integration level means more movements on the road segments. This study tries to proof hypothesis; the more movements on a road segments (the higher the Integration level) means the higher the level of change in house facade. The hypothesis formulated in this study is there’s suspected relationship and influence between movements on road segments to the level of change on facade house facade. Research conducted at Kompleks Tamansari Bukit Bandung located in East Bandung. 332 houses with sampling; owned, inhabited and not inhabited but managed was assesed the level of change in house facade. The level of change in house facade became dependant variable. There are 45 axial line on axial map which results Global Integration Rn, Integration R10 and Integration R3, these variable became independent variable. These variables analyzed with correlation and multivariate regression analysis by JMP software and results shows there are correlation between Global Integration Rn and Integration R3 to level of change on house facade. And the multivariate regression analysis shows that all three variables influencing level of change on house facade with different portion of influence. The results of the analysis later confirmed through interviews with the residence which resulted in a tendency that movement on roads provide the motivation to change or enhance the house facade which indirectly confirmed the hypothesis of the study.
