Until now, Tanah Datar Regency has not had adequate data about people's desire in choosing high school educational facilities yet. The objective of this research is to find and know the high school educational facilities usage characteristic in Tanah Datar. Respondents of this research are attained from samples spread in every SMA and SMK in Tanah Datar. The method used in this research is descriptive-analytic method. Based on the result of this research, it is found that most of people in Tanah Datar use educational facilities located more than 3 km away, even there are some of them who uses further than 9 km. Usage of educational facilities less than 3 km away is only 33.5% (high school), 41.2% (SMA only), and 13.1% (SMK only). Meanwhile, further than 9 km educational facilities usage are 19.1% (high school), 10.5% (SMA only), and 41.8% (SMK only). Transport fee and time spent to the chosen school are more than the closer unchosen ones. Overuse of time and fund comes from the desire to achieve individual satisfaction in using the facilities. Household attribute has less relation in the facilities selection. Meanwhile, transportation mode mainly used by students is ojek. Conclusion of this research is the high school educational facilities usage characteristic in Tanah Datar can not be measured by distance, time, and cost spent in real form, but it tends to be affected by desire to fulfilled individual satisfaction in the form of achieving adequate school regulation/discipline, teachers' quality, and transportation systems. Local government policy is necessary in restructuring high school facilities which is orientation on discipline improvement, teachers' quality improvement, and improvement of transportation systems to reach it. text |
