Description
Summary:North Water of Jakarta Bay (106,6oE-107,1oE dan 5,65oS-6,15oS) has a low wave height which can suddenly increase drastically. The cause of this phenomenon is thought to be MJO (Madden-Julian Oscillation) which will be the main focus of this study. SWAN model (Simulating Waves Nearshore) is being used in the study with the input consist of CCMP wind field (Cross-Calibrated Multi Purpose) data with 0,250x0,250 resolution from 1981-2011 and GEBCO (General Bathymetric Chart of The Oceans) bathymetry data with 30 second resolution. Result of the study found that MJO has the strongest influence on the phase five in DJF season. Increase in the wind speed reach 2,2 m/s, from 3,5 to 5,7 m/s and increase in wave height reach 40 cm, from to 20 to 60 cm. MJO can also cause a decrease in wind speed up to1 m/s, from 3,5 to 2 m/s and decrease in wave height up to 6 cm, from 20 to 14 cm in phase three. The same influence also found in MAM season but with smaller influence. MJO occurrence in JJA and SON season doesn’t pose any significant changes on the wind speed and wave height.
