Summary:Acoustic comfort in a room become one of the most important things in building physics. It’s also prevail for public space like hospital. NICU is one of the intensive care unit in hospital that should be inspected in terms of acoustic comfort problem. There has been limited research on the acoustic conditions of NICU in Indonesia. This research was conducted at a hospital in Jakarta. Analysis of acoustic conditions carried out in this final project using objective, subjective, and simulation method based on soundscape concept. According Standar Nasional Indonesia (SNI) and World Health Organization (WHO), the suitable acoustic condition for patient’s room is 35 dBA. After conducting the data retrieval, it was found that value of the equialent sound pressure level in NICU is ranged from 54,3-62,5 dBA. Performance scale shows 4,2 from 10 for loudness scale and 5,2 from 10 for comfort scale. Soundscape in NICU can be repaired with the addition of curtain in incubator’s side, installation of glass partition, and ceiling absorber in nurse station area, The result of simulation shows the sound pressure level decrease for 8,9 dBA for ventilator and 8,2 dBA for conversation as a sound source and the STI increase from ‘bad’ up to ‘good’ level to ‘fair’ up to ‘excellent’ level.
