Summary: | In these past years, Bandung City's official start to pay more attention to the
availability of open space. According to Dinas Pemakaman dan Pertamanan,
several efforts to revitalize and build new parks has not yet included the acoustical
quality as one of the aspect to be concerned, so it caused an unoptimized
potentials to the parks functionality as a public open space. This research observe
the acoustic aspect of Taman Lansia, Taman Balai Kota and Taman Alun-Alun,
choosen by their popularity and conditions' compatibility with the criteria of a
decent public open space. This research applied Soundscape's approach which is
able to give an objective review about city park sonic's environment, visitor
perception and relations in both aspects. The objective review conducted through
analysis of noise parameter's variation as a function of time and zone, and also the
distribution pattern of sound pressure in the level of 1/3 octave. The subjective
review is also conducted to know the utilization pattern of parks by visitors and
how the visitors' perception towards the composition of sound sources which
shaped the sonic environment surrounding those parks. From this research, there
is incompatibality between sound source's domination according to the objective
review with the sound source’s domination from the visitor perception which said
that the most dominant sound from the three parks is sound from vehicles. The
domination of vehicle sound did not support the parks functions as and open
public spaces, and therefore the action focuses on the need to direct vistiors
attention in making more positive impression about the parks. |
