Summary: | The use of daylight is one way to reduce energy consumption in buildings. But,
daylight can cause visual discomfort in the form of glare. Center of Art, Design,
and Language (CADL) Institut Teknologi Bandung is a building that has windows
on west and east facade so the probability of glare occurred is high. High
Dynamic Range-technique showed glare that occurred in the rooms had
DGP>0.23. Based on visual comfort's limit proposed by Hirning et al.[18], the
rooms in this building are uncomfortable. In this research, CADL was optimized
so the percentage of time that glare occurred in comfort’s region (%DGP<0.21)
more than 50% and spatial daylight autonomy with illuminance 150 lux and 50%
(sDA150lux,50%) more than 30%. Optimization was done by simulation using
DIVA-for-Rhino software. On optimization was added vertical blinds, horizontal
blinds, and curtains. Vertical blinds and horizontal blinds were varied by blade’s
opening angle and the area covering the windows while curtains were varied only
by area covering the windows. The results show that %DGP<0.21 can be increased
beyond 50%, but in some rooms, sDA150,50% also decrease below 30%. Using
Pareto front, the most frequent optimum’s solutions are vertical blinds 75%-60o
which appear in three rooms. |
