INSTITUT TEKNOLOGI BANDUNG https://digilib.itb.ac.id/gdl/view/44860 In mass production systems which produce a large number of products and similar forms, to ensure that the resulting product has good quality control is required as well. The choice of inspection method is essential to ensure the quality control of a product where there is a inspection sampling and 100% inspection method. However, the use of an inspection method may also affect the cost of the inspection process in which the sampling inspection method has less processing time than the 100% inspection method but in the sampling inspection, of course, allows "passing" nonconforming products. Because of that 100% inspection method is highly recommended in product quality inspection to be marketed. In a 100% inspection method which requires a long process because it should not miss a single product for inspection it requires a tool in the inspection process. Functional gage is the answer in the inspection process so that the time required in the inspection process can be reduced and also the inspector does not need to have special expertise in the inspection process. Referring to the function and importance to maintain the quality of the product gage needs to be designed properly according to the standards that have been set so that product quality control can be maintained. In this study the standard for functional gage design using ASME Y14.43-2011 as a reference in its design. in the ASME Y14.43-2011 determined some tolerance policy methods in functional gage design that are practical absolute tolerancing policy, absolute tolerancing policy, optimistic tolerancing policy and tolerance tolerancing policy in which each policy determines how much or at least the object will be "received" or "rejected" by gage. text
