Description
Summary:Osteoporosis is a disease that degenerative structure and function of bone caused by decreased levels of Bone Mineral Density (BMD) and the deterioration of the quantity and quality of bone microarchitecture, causing fragility that decrease quality of human life. According to the International Osteoporosis Foundation, one of four Indonesian women affected by osteoporosis. People with osteoporosis in Indonesia who had been broken in the groin reach 173 of 100,000 population every year. As an alternative to Dual-energy X-ray Absorptiometry (DXA), researchers developing texture analysis on a panoramic image of the jaw for early detection status of bone health. In this research, the evaluation of the panoramic image which consists of selecting three fixed Region of Interest (ROI) size of 50 x 50 pixels on condyle mandible and mental foramen area. On bias compensation process to panoramic image using level set bias correction, feature extraction using Fraksi, Fractals and Gray- Level Co-occurrence Matrix (GLCM), and classification status of bone health using Artificial Neural Network (ANN). The panoramic image provided by Department of Oral and Dental Radiology, Faculty of Dentistry, University of Padjadjaran, Bandung with the following details: total 81 samples, female patients 50-85 years old who had been in the postmenopausal period from Bandung, and validation using test DXA to know status of their bone health. The results of classification using ANN on 30 trained data and 51 test data yields: In group four, the value of accuracy, sensitivity and specificity of the mental foramen respectively for 64.7%, 56.5% and 71.4%, while the value of accuracy, sensitivity and specificity of the condyle mandible in a row amounting to 50.9%, 60.9%, and 42.9%. In group six, the value of accuracy, sensitivity and specificity of the mental foramen respectively for 62.7%, 65.2% and 60.7%, while the value of accuracy, sensitivity and specificity of the condyle mandible, respectively for 60.8%, 69.6% and 53.6%.
