| Summary: | Burn wound can be caused by ultraviolet, electricity, and hot matter that can be found during daily
activities. Anting-anting leaves was traditionally used to cure burn wound. This reaserch aimed to
develop gel dossage form in order to cure burn wound. Water extract and ethanolic extract of
anting-anting were formulated into gel dosage form. It?s efficacy on burn wound healing was tested
on rabbit induced with hot plate. Result showed that the gel containing 2% of water extract and 4%
of ethanolic extract formulated without antioxidant and preservative stable only for 3 days
indicated from its viscocity, pH, homogenicity, and no fungi growth. On the test on burn wound
healing, both type of gel start to heal the burn wound on day four of application and 90% of recovery
obtained on day 18th . This effect indicated by significant (p<0,005) wound contraction, decreasing
in edema, erythema, eschar, and pus scores. Based on this result, it can be conducted that water
and ethanolic extract of anting-anting have a potency to cure burn wound and to get the stable
condition of gel formulation needed to add antioxidant and preservative.
