Flavonoids are almost exist on every green plants and have many benefits, one of them is an antioxidants. One of the plants that can be source of natural antioxidants is tea (Camelia sinensis var. assamica). Tea is a popular beverage among people. Tea that had been used in this study was fifteen types quality of orthodox black tea leaves. The objective of the research was to determine the total flavonoids (flavones, flavonols) level of fifteen types quality of orthodox black tea leaves byusing colorimetric method according to Chang Method. Extraction was performed by pouring 100 mL boiled distilled water using 2 g of black tea leaves for 6 minutes. Solution of aluminum (III) chloride 10% used to form a reversible bond with keto-hydroxy and hydroxy ortho on flavonoid structure while 1 M sodium acetate served to keep the bond stable. Absorbance of test solution of each extract of orthodox black tea leaves was measured by ultraviolet-visible at a wavelength of 415 nm visible. The total flavonoid level was calculated by using a regression equation of the comparator (quercetin) calibration curve. The total flavones and flavonols level of water extract was DUST I 0.34 ± 0.02%; DUST II 0.52 ± 0.03%; DUST III 0.50 ± 0.05%; BP I 0.22 ± 0.01%; BP II 0.37 ± 0.03%; PF I 0.31 ± 0.03%; PF II 0.33 ± 0.004%; PF III 0.42 ± 0.03%; BM 0.38 ± 0.03%; BOP 0.35 ± 0.01%; BOPF 0.30 ± 0.02%; BT I 0.42 ± 0.01%; BT II 0.37 ± 0.04%; BBL 0.58 ± 0.02%; BTL 0.31 ± 0.004%. The highest total flavonoid level was BBL quality of orthodox black tea leaves was 0.58% toward quersetin. BBL ethanol soluble extract content was 4.56%, water soluble extract content was 3.67%, total ash content was 4.58%, acid-insoluble ash content was 0.195%, and water content was 7%. text
