The used of plants as medicine and the effects that came after it associated with secondary metabolites contained therein. One group of secondary metabolites, which are found in plants are flavonoids. Some studies have suggested that flavonoids have functions as an antioxidant, antibacterial, and antiinflammation. Research on the flavonoid compounds in the leaves of P.indica still limited so this research aims to isolated, characterized and identified the flavonoid compounds from the leaves of P. indica. The fresh leaves are collected, sorted, cleaned, dried in an oven, and ground into powder (crude drug). Essential oil from crude drug was extracted with destillation method. The crude drug is characterized then extracted by refluxing with methanol. The methanol extract was monitored by thin-layer chromatography (TLC) then fractionated using liquid-liquid extraction and chromatotron. Purification is done using preparative TLC thus obtained isolates 1 and 2. Isolates 1 and 2 were characterized using paper chromatography and spectrophotodensitometry with a specific shift reagent. Phytochemical screening showed that the leaves extract and crude drug of Pluchea indica (L.) Less. contained phenols, flavonoids and steroid/triterpenoid. The first compound that were isolated from P. indica leaves were flavone without hydroxy group at C-7 and without ortho dihidroxy at A and B ring. The second compound methoxylated flavone compound without the hydroxy group at C-3 position and without ortho dihydroxy at A and B ring. text
