Java tea, plantain and yellow strobilanthus is a plant used by people to treat kidney stones traditionally. This study aims to verify the efficacy and determine the best combination ratio of java tea, plantain and yellow strobilanthus to shed calcium oxalate and calcium phosphate crystal, which are the main constituent of kidney stone. Calcium stone shedding activity test was done by adding test solution to a super saturated system of the calcium phosphate or calcium oxalate, then the amount of calcium ions from the precipitate formed on each system was measured. Test solution was prepared by two methods. Method 1 had been done by extracting the mixture of three crude drug in a certain ratio and method 2 had been done by extracting each crude drug separately then the extract combined in a certain ratio. Calcium ion concentration was determined by complexometric titration method using Na-EDTA and indicator EBT at pH 10 guarded by ammonia buffer. Shedding activity of calcium oxalate and calcium phosphate crystals was indicated by a decrease in the concentration of calcium ions with the addition of the test solution on the system. The highest shedding activity of calcium phosphate and calcium oxalate crystals shown by water extract of leaves java tea-yellow strobilanthus-plantain 1:1:1 from extract method 2 with percent of activity 18.86±1.95% and 18.95±2.05%. Method 2 have a better activity to shed calcium phosphate and calcium oxalate crystal than method 1 and single extract from each plants. text
