Summary:<b>Abstract:<p align=\"justify\"> <br /> <br /> The time required to perform a given process in repetitive manufacture enviroment tends to fall progressive as the same process is repeated for a sufficient number of successions is the learning curve phenomenon. The learning curve began receiving attention during World Wor II as contractors searched for ways which they could use to predict time requirements for construction of aircraft to be use to conduct the war. After war the experiences of manufacturers with the learning curve phenomenon led to its gradual adoption by other manufacturing.<p align=\"justify\"> The characteristics of manufacture are tipically made in a facility, shipped to their use area and the enviroment is well controlled. Based on that charecteristic learning curve was developed. How about does the learning curve phenomenon occur in construction ?. This thesis studies the learning curve phenomenon on construction of high-rise building.<p align=\"justify\"> The characteristics of construction are the product generally more complex, heavier assemblies, built to lower tolerances than manufactured and production volumes are typically smaller in the construction. There is a more \"one-of-a-kind\" production. The essence of repetition and continuity that envolves in linear construction proceses allows for such a phenomenon to occur.<p align=\"justify\"> The structural process of a high-rise building is a typical example. The process is repeated as the construction phase advances from one floor to another. As learning develops with time, a decrese in cycle time of involved repetitive tasks takes place. The effect of learning development is typically expressed as function of the learning rate (L,R). Aspects that influence the learning rate are management, operation, labor and product.
