Summary: | Medication Use Evaluation (MUE) is a quality assurance program of pharmaceutical service in
purpose of assuring medication use safety and eficience that routinely conducted. MUE can be
focused on certain medication or patients with special condition. The evaluation is performed to
medications that potentially cause significant health reaction. Treatment for ambulatory patients
is very risky in term of improper medication use due to self-medication without health care
surveillance. MUE in National Eye Center Rumah Sakit Mata Cicendo Bandung has not done
routinely. Therefore, this study was conducted to do medication use analysis to ambulatory
patient in infection polyclinic in Rumah Sakit Mata Cicendo. The study was a retrospective
observational study that was focused on ambulatory patients group in infection polyclinic with
random sampling and number of sample take based on Isaac and Michael table. Medication use
analysis was based on Medication Use Criteria that had been made based on literatures. The
study included 289 patients with 696 totals of visits. Data showed that there were 45 cases of
medications without indication, 11 cases of improper dosage and frequency, 21 cases of drug
interactions, and 30 cases of drug duplications. Generally, there were 107 cases of improper
medication use that make a conclusion of potential 2 cases of improper medication over 10 visits.
