Error in the management of drugs especially when the drugs are in the hand of a user can also cause a risk and health as well as the environment problems. There are many people who manage medications in the wrong way, either on how to get, to use, to store, and to dispose medicines. This behavior is possibly because of the lack of knowledge about medicines. This research aims to determine the knowledge level of community in Kebonwaru village regarding the management of medicines at home. The research also aims to see the influence of Community Based Interactive Approach (CBIA) method of education to the knowledge level of community regarding the management of medicines at home. This research is a descriptive study with purposive sampling technique. Techniques of data collection used is through interview using the questionnaire then analyzed with frequency distribution method. The pre-test and post-test CBIA questionnaire then analyzed with Wilcoxon tests to see the difference in the knowledge of community before and after the education. From research results obtained that 60,4 percent of respondents often buy medicines in pharmacy, 75,18 percent of respondents read drugs information indicated on the packaging before using medicines, 71,7 percent of respondents do not have a medicine storage box at home, 73,8 percent of respondents do not know how to store the medicine properly, and 70,1 percent of respondents dispose medicine with the wrong way. The analysis showed there is a significant difference (p<0,05) between the knowledge of community before and after the education. From research results can be concluded that the knowledge level of community in Kebonwaru village about how to get and use medicines is good enough, but the knowledge level of community about how to store and dispose medicines is still low. The CBIA method effectively increase the community knowledge regarding the management of medicines at home.
