Description
Summary:Flood has been an annual occasion that has occured in Kesawan, whereas this area counted as heart of the capital city of North Sumatera, Medan. It is also known as the places for many historical buildings. The flooding caused by the insufficient of drainage channel to hold the water on the surface flow. One of the elements affecting the surface flow discharge is the availability of RTH in Kesawan still accounted under 30%. Besides accomodating the social activities’ needs, RTH holds the control of ecological balance. In accordance to that, the purpose of this thesis is to plan RTH within Kasawan cultural heritage to mitigate flood. This thesis use rational method to count the peak discharge of rainfall intensity, and sustainable management of runoff water by applying bioswales as a channel to minimize runoff water from RTH to drainage channels. The effort to enhance RTH intended to follows the characteristic and social needs nearby (city park through green wall). Peak discharge from the intensity of rainfall of 10 years scale plan is 122,40 m3/second. Whilst bioswales adaption applied, runoff water discharge could be handled with a length of 2.565m bioswales. By using the green factor method from the RTH, predictical more than 10% of green space is obtained
