pneumonia is often happened simultaneously by the acute bronchi infection as known as
bronchopneumonia. The appropriate treatment to handle bronchopneumonia is consuming
antibiotic. High morbidity and mortality of pneumonia in children under five years old at developing
countries are affected by a variety of factors, such as low birth weight (LBW), incomplete or not
receiving vaccine, nonexclusive breastfeeding, malnutrition, overcrowded, and high exposure to air
pollution as well. This study aimed to determine the suitability of the use of antibiotics and to
identify risk factors of bronchopneumonia so that prevention can be done by the clinics. This
research used descriptive-observational method on bronchopneumonia children patients under 5
years old concurrently ?ð??±??ð±?ð?ã ? ?ð±????» ?ð??and retrospectively through their medical
record from February 2016 to April 2016 at Ibrahim Adjie Clinic and Puter Clinic in Bandung. From
this study, 70 patients satisfy the inclusion criteria. Amoxicillin antibiotic use was higher (57.14%)
than cotrimoxazole (42.86%). Suitability dose of amoxicillin was 17.5% and suitability frequency of
administration of amoxicillin was 20%, while suitability dose of cotrimoxazole was 46.67% and
suitability frequency of administration of cotrimoxazole was 93.33%. Suitability amoxicillin dosage
and frequency of administration lower than cotrimoxazole, while the duration of both antibiotic
uses was not in accordance with the literature. From this study, bronchopneumonia biggest risk
factors was nonexclusive breastfeeding (70%) for internal risk factor, and overcrowded (67.1%) for
external risk factor.
