The study was conducted to analyze the component of bitter honey compared to common sweet honey. Characterization of macroscopic and microscopic carried out on all samples. Samples macerated with ethanol and methanol. Chromatogram pattern of all samples were analyze by thin layer chromatography (TLC) on silica gel GF254 with various polarity solvent as mobile phase. Adulteration by added chemical drug entities was confirmed by TLC spectrophotodensitometry using corticosteroids chemical drugs such as dexametason, prednisone and methyl prednisolone as standard. The purification of bitter honey component that different with sweet honey was done by using preparative TLC, and the purity test performed by TLC using three different polarity mobile phases and 2 dimensional TLC. The isolate characterized by UV- Visible and infrared spectrophotometry, and also 1 H-NMR and 13 C-NMR spectroscopy. The quality test performed based on the parameter tests on SNI methods. Isolate X that was isolated from methanol extract of sample E had: Rf 0.6 on TLC using chloroform-methanol (9:1) as mobile phase; absorb UV light on ?254 nm, and had maximum wavelength ?280 nm in methanol; predicted as 5- hydroxymethyl-2-furaldehyde. The bitter honey samples proven did not contain corticosteroid evaluated: dexametason, prednisone, and methyl prednisolone. text |
