Summary: | Sea surface height is mean elevation of sea surface which affected by some natural phenomenas. One of the phenomena that affects sea surface height is upwelling. Upwelling is a process in which deep water rises toward the surface. Upwelling brings high density and cold water from deep water to surface thus cause decrease in sea surface height and temperature. Upwelling phenomena affected by others natural phenomenas in Pasific and Indian Ocean known as El Niño Southern Oscillation (ENSO) and Indian Ocean Dipole (IOD). The purpose of this study is to determine the variability of sea surface height anomaly in upwelling area at different conditions of ENSO and IOD in Southerf of Java Island. This study using level 3 satellite images for sea surface height anomaly (SSHA) MEI dan DMI data from 2001 until 2015. The result of this study show that the lowest SSHA when El Niño and IOD(+) occurs at the same time in 2006 with the lowest number of SSHA -0.31 meter. This study also shows that intensity of the upwelling is more affected by IOD dan ENSO |
