Kitolod (Laurentia longiflora (L.) Peterm) is one of the species of plants belonging to the family Campanulaceae. This plant has been known to treat eye disorders, has anti-inflammatory and antibacterial effects. Research on activity of extracts and fractions of L. longiflora in many activities such as antiinflammatory, antioxidant, antibacterial have been carried out, but the research regarding alkaloids in kitolod is still very limited. This study aimed to isolate and characterize the alkaloids from the leaves of L. longiflora. To achieve these objectives, the isolation of alkaloids has been done through a series of separation stages which included the extraction, fractionation and purification. Extraction was carried out using reflux, following acid-base liquid-liquid extraction, fractionation and purification were done by radial chromatography. Purity test of the isolated compound was performed by thin layer chromatography using three different mobile phase. The chemical structure of the isolated compound was analyzed by spectrophotometry uv-vis and LC-MS. Isolat X had M + = 338,4 and isolate X (in methanol) had 245 nm maximum wavelength. Alkaloid compound which was isolated from kitolod leaves was predicted to be lobeline.
