Description
Summary: Abstract :

Solar energy is energy which available in a large amount but not available everyday. One way to utilize this energy is by supplying it into a closed circuit system of intermittent steam reforming and continuous methanation.

The objectives of this research are: (a) to determine the viability of a closed circuit system of intermittent steam reforming and continuous methanation, and (b) to determine the effect of changes in process variables on total process efficiency.
The general purpose of this research is to study the structure and the behavior of the solar energy utilizing by transforming it into the chemical energy. The study is done by simulating the model which is developed in the this research which also is used to described the system.

The result of the simulation for various operation condition of the system is that the the eficiency is very sensitive to steam carbon ratio, and followed by feed pressure, feed temperature, reactor wall temperature and mass flow rate. The process eficiency which is defined as available energy by the process per solar energy absorbed can reach 77.92%.
