Summary:Shallot is one of the most important horticultura product in Indonesia. But its productivity are under optimum. The aims of this research is to analyses True Shallot Seeds performance as potential alternative of shallot seeds on natural farming system. Up until now, TSS are using as seeds material for shallot that had been cultivated under controlled condition (closed system). While its price are under its cost for closed system farming. We use TSS as seeds material for shallot farming natural environment on highland (1250 masl) in raining season (in seasons for shallot at Mekarmanik). Data was collected from cultivation practice, literature, and informal interview and analyses it using Root Cause Analysis and Failure Modes and Effect Analysis. We found that TSS can’t be grow into bulb at Mekarmanik on raining seasons. Because the heavy attact from Fusarium sp., after rain comes and integrated with another factors (nonadaptable variety and residual soil) that increasing the growth of inhibitors and makes Fusarium sp., attack as lethal factor for stoping seedling growth. We recommend to use adaptable variety, adding antagonized microbes into soil to prevent disease, and use soil free form shallot residual. We believe that Mekarmanik can be pioneer of shallot mini bulb producer in Bandung when its inhibitor are under control.
