Description
Summary:Spindles are a major component of machine tools. The spindle functions as a connector between the driver against the cutting tool or work piece. The spindle must meet the requirements of the machine tool itself which has high accuracy and precision so that it can support high productivity. When designing a spindle, there are several parameters that have an effect on meeting the requirements of the machine tool. One of the parameters is stiffness. Stiffness is a parameter that affects the accuracy and precision of a machine tool. The parametric design of the spindle is carried out to produce spindle design variations. A stack tolerance analysis is performed to check the parametric design results based on the recommended standards. In addition, stack tolerance analysis is used as a method of finding variations in geometry tolerance that will affect the quality of the spindle. According to ISO 13041-1: 2004, there are 4 geometry tolerance testing standards that must be met. Radial runout spindle bore testing standards serve as a reference for stack tolerance analysis in the spindle parametric design. In this study, parametric design and stack tolerance analysis were carried out on a CNC lathe spindle. Parametric models and stack tolerance models are made to determine the relationship between parameters on the CNC lathe spindle. Spindle analysis is done by using finite element software and modeling software. After the model has been built, the prototype parametric design application is created by combining parametric models and stack tolerance models.
