Description
Summary:Mainstreaming national tourism development can expand an equitable employment opportunities, encourage the utilization of resources owned by sticking to the local wisdom that is characterized each region in Indonesia, and environmental preservation. Pangandaran Regency is a part of National Strategic Tourism Areas (KSPN) and Special Economic Zones (KEK) which have a variety of tourist attractions ranging from natural, cultural, and special interests. However, especially beach tourism is developing more rapidly than others. One of the beaches that become a tourist destination is Pangandaran Beach with its beauty of two curves, namely the East Coast and the West Coast. The aims of this study is to determine the infrastructure readiness in Pangandaran Beach to become a worldclass tourist destination. This study uses a mixed-method where quantitative methods are used to support qualitative methods. The assessment of infrastructure readiness in Pangandaran Beach is carried out using several data collection methods, interviews, observation, documentation, and questionnaires. Based on the literature review and content analysis, variables used in this study are tourist attractions, activities, accommodation, restaurants, shopping areas, transportation, and walkability. Quantitative and qualitative descriptive analysis are used to describe the existing conditions against the criteria and indicators of the “ideal” conditions. The results showed that infrastructure in Pangandaran Beach were less ready to support this destination having a world-class services with a percentage of 40,33% readiness. The less readiness is indicated by the lack of attention to the liquid waste management that empties into the sea, the safety of tourist activities, the convenience of pedestrians, and the availability of public transportation. The results of the infrastructure readiness assessment can be used as considerations and recommendations in the development of Pangandaran Beach as a sustainable world-class tourist destination.
