Description
Summary:Abstract:

Phytocemical study of seagrass Enhalus acoroides (L.f) Royle has been carried out. Preliminary bioassay of n-hexane and ethyl acetate extracts using nauplii of brine shrimp, Artemia salina Leach, showed a significant bioactivity. Three compounds were isolated from n-hexane extract, i.e. palmitic acid, stigmast-1,5-diene-7-one (sacharostenone) and another compound with molecular weight of 256 has not been identified. From ethyl acetate extract three compounds were isolated, i.e. stigmast-5,22-diene-3-ol (stigmasterol), stigmast-5-ene-3-ol (sitosterol) and another one supposed to be a steroid with molecular weight of 394, having two double bounds at B ring, without hydroxyl group at A ring and having side chain of C10H19 at D ring. From methanol extract two glycosidic flavonoids were isolated, i.e. 5,7,31,4\'- tetrahydroxy flavone glycoside and 5,7,41-trihydroxy flavone glycoside.
