Description
Summary:<b>Abstract:<p align=\"justify\"> <br /> The evaluation of some ecological and aesthetic functions of several city parks which are maintained by \"Dinas Pertamanan Kotamadya Bandung\" has been done. The evaluation of ecological function was done by vegetation analysis to know the vegetation structure in parks and by measuring physical factors (temperature, humidity, light intensity, wind speed and sound level) inside and outside of parks in early in the morning, around noon and late in the afternoon. CO2 and particulate concentration was also measured. Aesthetic function was evaluated by scoring visually, using the following parameters: park using, shading of park, ornamentation, colour of flower, composition of vegetation as well as maintenance. The results showed that the parks have different ecological and aesthetic values. Using the ordination technique, 20 park samples can be grouped into 8 groups based on vegetation structure, with r = 0.5914. Ordination technique based on reduction of physical factors gave different park groups early in the morning, around noon and late in the afternoon. Taman Cicaheum I and Cicaheum II were not able to reduce CO2 concentration, meanwhile all the parks were able to reduce particulate concentration with different levels, Parks that have almost the same vegetation structure can have different ecological function or vice versa. Frequency distribution technique of Microstat programme gave five groups of parks for evaluation of ecological and aesthetic function with increasing scores. The combination of ecological and aesthetic value resulted in matric that gave 13 groups of parks. Inventarization of birds showed that not all of the parks were utilized by birds.
