INSTITUT TEKNOLOGI BANDUNG https://digilib.itb.ac.id/gdl/view/45880 The cement industry has become one of the most energy-intensive industries in the world. One of the energy saving efforts in cement industry is by conducting an energy audit so that the plant works efficiently. Evaluation of mass and energy balance is carried out in the sector with the largest energy consumption, namely the kiln system. In conducting audits, usually a lot of data is estimated due to the limitations of measuring meters when the plant is active, one of which is the cyclone separator system. This research seeks to provide a solution to these obstacles by developing software for evaluating the mass and heat balance of the kiln system. The developed software is able to display the mass and heat balance results down to the details of the equipment in the kiln system, namely the cyclone system and calculate its efficiency value. The system being reviewed is the SLC-I type kiln system with a 4 cyclone dual string preheater configuration (a total of 8 cyclones), a kiln and a grate cooler type clinker cooler. The software development method starts from identifying the mass and energy flow in each system, preparing the calculation formulation, and making the software interface. The software was further developed to calculate the value of the efficiency of cyclone separation in the preheater by using the least squares method for solving overdetermined equations. The developed software is capable of displaying up to the details of kiln system equipment with calculation errors using the least squares method below 0.3%. There are also the results of the calculation of the cyclone efficiency can be obtained respectively ranging from 93%, 89%, 82%, and 76% from the top cyclone to level 4 cyclone. text
