Summary: | The market in which firms compete magnifies the need for buying firms to effectively manage and developed their supply chain. One of the important notion in the management and development of the supply chain is the implementation of supplier development program. The extensive literature has identified a various type of activity in the supplier development program which categorized from low involvement activity (the company does not actively participate in the supplier development program) to high involvement activity (the company actively participate in the supplier development program). Knowledge sharing and investment in information and communication technlogy are categorized as high involvement activity in.
There is an extensive literature on supplier development program implementation and that implication on supplier’s capability. Therefore, there is still limted empirical research for investigating the knowledge sharing effectiveness determinants in supplier development program. Aimed at bridging that gap, this study attempts to investigating the role of supplier’s organizational culture, information and communication technology, and perceived behavioural control as the key determinants of knowledge sharing by mentorship effectiveness in supplier development program. A survey questionnaire was employed to collect data from 200 suppliers after conducting mentorship training at the suppliers’ site. The data were analyzed by the Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling.
The empirical analysis indicates that effectiveness of knowledge sharing by mentorship influenced by power distance and uncertainty avoidace as an organizational culture dimension. The result also supported the effect of information and communication technology and perceived behavioural control on effectiveness of knowledge sharing by mentorship in supplier development program.
